cranking up a 99 image popup slide show

Tanami Track and Purnululu

I note that it is a full five years since I treadled my way across the Tanami Track and up to Purnululu National Park, that’s in Central Australia, with my accomplice Sebastien, a bloke I met while mooching around Alice Springs. We spent 18 days together telling tall stories, clambering around giant termite mounds and sitting around campfires as well as biking the “tuff, tuff, tuff” Tanami and meeting up again at the splendiferous Purnululu National Park.

Actually the Tanami is somewhat tough, it’s a big 1050km from Alice Springs to Halls Creek over in Western Australia, most on a sometimes good, often not, dirt road that gets a little traffic other than the mining supply road trains that thunder past in a cloud of dust. There’s the small Aboriginal settlements of Yuendumu and Billiluna along the way, the small Rabbit Flat Roadhouse has since closed down permanently, otherwise you are out there on your own in the spinifex with that big sky overhead.

If you want to read about my impressions at the time they can be found on my blog buried my website, cycletrailsaustralia.com.

I have finally managed to get my bigger image popup slideshows working seemlessly, so here is a casual 99 image slideshow for your viewing pleasure. Click on the image above to get the slideshow started, then you can click on the left or right sides of the bigger images to go forward or back.
