I can remember this as a kiddy so it must have been going for longer than that, ie, decades.
I’ll just point out that the Collingwood Street hill is somewhat, actually a whole lot steeper than it looks, photos flatten the slope out, the trolleys get up to 80 kmh, and, to my mind anyway, those potholes halfway down could have been more professionally filled.
