All clear

The month after my return from my autumn tramping expedition was spent dealing with my skin damage issues. It didn’t help that I took a friend’s advice to go to a clinic 10 km away, rather than the one I walked past at least twice a day. There’s been about 20 trips out there, once I went twice in one day when I took advantage of a cancellation to hasten my day surgery.

I had an initial consultation, my biopsy, checking the dressings a few times, removal of stitches, the two procedures, more dressings, another round of stitch removal, a full-body scan to establish a baseline for future comparison, and finally, the surgeon did a full-body check.

That’s all that was needed out there, but it was a time-consuming resolution. I could apply the cream to dissolve the precancerous skin areas myself, but it turned out to be a sticky situation. The dissolving cream was all very well, but then I had to apply vitamin E cream, which is basically the consistency of honey. That needed to be applied on waking, and one hour before I went to bed. The honey applied to my head was slowly wiped off on the towel over my pillow. As I said in my last blog, better than the alternative.

The news came back that the second biopsy after the operation was clear. Seems I attended to my skin at an early stage. You need to get onto these issues without hesitation.
