Heading West
I’ve spent a lot of time over the years writing about the evolution of Heading West.
This was written at the end of each day as a blog back when I was riding my bike across Australia, and later assembled and published as an e-book in July 2014.
11 years later, I can finally announce it has been published as a paperback.
Yeah, it’s been a long journey. Some distractions from getting down to it over the years, although having published 100 Days | Walking Te Araroa as a paperback almost 10 years ago should have helped the process. The two paperbacks share the same format and cover style, and that’s many decisions already made. The maps took a while, and there’s one for each chapter. It didn’t help that Illustrator was discontinued.
Okay, no excuses. There were plenty of long winter nights I could have cracked it out.
Anyway, it’s done.
Just one more bookie transformation to go. The second part of my transcontinental travels: zzOz | zigzag across Australia.
My ambition is to crack it out by the end of 2026. As a priority.
