Using AI
I’m a late arrival to AI.
I still write all my pieces off the top of my head, although I check facts on Google. I use it primarily as a Grammarly subscriber. I just check for typos and grammar. Suggestions are usually accepted.
I don’t use it to actually write my answers, as I usually only answer questions where I have a different take than others.
Partly this system is because I write these posts with a mechanical pencil in my notebook, then dictate the text into my phone using Apple Notes app, which does a better job with voice recognition than my desktop computer.
This year, the native dictation has returned to the Adequate rating from a few years ago. I taught the Dragon Dictate app to recognise New Zealand place names and idiosyncratic spellings of local vocab. Then it was discontinued, and I had to move back to Apple dictation. The shocking recognition of the last few years has now reached 2019 levels, thankfully. It still insists on AutoCorrecting the spelling of my name, no matter what I do to stop that.
