Blood pressure normal
The beta-blocker significantly reduced my blood pressure in my reasonably healthy body, which did not actually need it. My low salt, high step count made it worse, as the medication put a brake on my heart rate, and that meant that my morning shot of coffee made it even worse.
It takes time for the beta blocker to be eliminated, as it has a half-life of around 6 to 12 hours. A week cleared it out, but my heart had adapted to the restraint and established more adrenaline receptors. Capillaries in my legs have changed. All these need to revert, despite my blurred vision and lightheadedness correcting in a few days. And my higher blood pressure has been quite stable at around 118/75. Just some occasional fluctuations, mostly due to salt or coffee.
At least I’ve been given medical clearance. Everything was scanned or measured, and it found that I have a properly functioning heart and kidneys; my brain scan showed no scarring or tumours. That has given me a new lease on life.
My step count app, Pacer, says I have a body 12 years younger than others in my age group.
Of course, you take this cautiously, but it seems I’m good to go.
