March on!

I’ve been a user of the app Pacer since 6 September 2017, a few days after Diana gave me her old iPhone 6 (with a broken screen). Since then, I’ve trotted out 35 million steps over 510,000 minutes, and travelled 28,000+ kilometres, apparently.

This year I decided to use the benefits that came with a paid subscription. I get detailed assessments of heart rate and pace for walks I choose to record, which is now most days. It unlocks my history as well, so I can check how I’m going.

Halfway through September, I joined a group of half a million people on a distance challenge. There’s the subgroup of 84,000 Kiwis, and I found it slightly motivating to increase my distance and help keep my fitness for tramping this summer.

Not that I’m competitive.

Currently, I’m running 18th. It’s hard to climb higher because I’m motivated but not a fanatic, and there are maniacal obsessives out there.

Top 20 would be good with five days to go.

[As it turned out, I cracked out a big 420 km for October.]
